It was a busy first day of August for Potsdam Fire. It started off at 0911 hours when a fire alarm was activated at AA Kingston Middle School. Engine 49 (Lozipone) responded and was on scene at 0913 hours. Once on scene, a crew investigated to determine the cause of the alarm. The crew found that worker was sweeping the floors and the dust activated the alarm. 9 members were present and Engine 49 was back in service at 0940 hours.
The second call of the day was a mutual aid call. Canton Fire had an alarm activation at 48 Court Street, the St. Lawrence County Court House at 1348 hours. 4-2 called on scene at 1357 hours and stated there was electrical issues. 4-2 requested mutual aid from Morley, Rensselaer Falls, and Potsdam to standby at their stations at 1406 hours. A crew of 9 stood by at Potsdam Station until released at 1431 hours.
The third call of the day was a motor vehicle accident. Central Dispatch toned Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 7 at 1536 hours for an MVA with airbag deployment at 20 Market Street in front of NBT bank. Engine 49 (Lozipone) responded and arrived on scene at 1540 hours. 36-1 called on scene with two people still in a car. There were no injuries and the victims involved got out of their vehicle with no extrication. Potsdam Fire also provided traffic control. 36-1 and 36-4 responded with 12 members. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1622 hours.
