On April 9, 2016, at approximately 10:39am, Potsdam Fire was requested for mutual aid to Hannawa Falls Fire for a report of a fully involved structure fire at 14 Grove Street, Hannawa Falls. Engine 80 and TA 100 responded immediately.
Once on scene Engine 80, being the first truck on the scene, stretched a 2 1/2" hose line to the A side of the structure in an effort to gain headway on the large volume of fire. TA-100 was not far behind Engine 80 and deployed its port-a-tank and dumped its 2,000 gals of water. to feed E-80. An 1 3/4" hand line was then deployed to the C side of the structure and a second 1 3/4" hand line was deployed to the D side.
Engine 48 established draft from Hannawa Pond on the bridge a short distance away on State Highway 56.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation with the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team. The house was a total loss.
All Potsdam equipment was back in service at 1628.
Departments at the scene: Hannawa Falls, Potsdam, Pierrepont, Parishville, Colton, and Potsdam Rescue. West Potsdam provided a crew to stand-by at Potsdam Station. |
