On May 24, 2018 at approximately 0815hrs. the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department and Potsdam Rescue Squad responded to a reported 2 vehicle head-on motor vehicle accident with serious injuries and entrapment. Units arrived on scene and found four people trapped in the vehicles, one was pronounced deceased. Fire and rescue units quickly put their extrication equipment to work to remove the seriously injured occupants of the vehicles. The victims were removed and transported to the hospital via Potsdam Rescue. Garner's Funeral Home arrived on scene to remove the deceased occupant.

Fortunately for all involved, this was only a display to Potsdam Central Students showing the dangers and outcome of driving while under the influence. Hundreds of students looked on as Fire, Rescue, and Potsdam Police worked the scene, showing the reality and results of poor decision-making.

The Potsdam Fire Department would like to remind all community members and students alike of the serious and deadly results of impaired driving, and wishes all a safe and happy graduation season!
