On May 22, 2018, at approximately 11:48am, the Potsdam Fire Department was dispatched to a reported personal injury motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 11, in the vicinity of the 1884 House.

Engine 80 and Rescue 14 responded a shortly after being dispatched.

Fire Chief Danielle Rose arrived on scene, established command, and found two vehicles with severe damage from a head on collision. One vehicle contained one male victim with moderate injuries. The second vehicle had one male occupant who was deceased. Engine 80 and Rescue 14 arrived shortly thereafter.

Potsdam Fire Department members, along with members of Potsdam Rescue, provided patient care and extricated the victims from the vehicles.
One patient was transported by Potsdam Rescue to Canton Potsdam Hospital.

Potsdam Fire remained on scene and assisted law enforcement during the investigation process with scene cleanup, and traffic control.
