On Thursday May 2nd 2019, Potsdam Fire answered a total of 6 fire calls. The first call of the day was at 0006 hours to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for a fire alarm activation. Potsdam Fire Engine 49 (R. Pierce) responded and arrived at 0009 hours. The cause of the alarm was found to be burnt toast and Potsdam Fire was in service at 0028 hours.

The next call of the day, Potsdam Fire was activated at 1159 hours to a report of a transformer that blew which was first reported to be on Clarkson University Campus by the softball field. Potsdam Fire Engine 49 (R. Crowe) responded at alarm time and arrived at 1202 hours. It was found the transformer blew by Jeffords Steel where Engine 49 relocated to. A call was placed to National Grid and Potsdam Fire remained on scene until National Grid arrived. Potsdam Fire was back in service by 1249 hours.

Potsdam Fire then was activated at 1320 hours for a fire alarm sounding in the vicinity of 51 Market Street. Potsdam Fire Engine 49 (R. Crowe) responded and arrived on scene at 1321 hours. The cause of the alarm was found to be from construction workers sanding sheet-rock. As Engine 49 was backing into the fire station, Potsdam Fire was contacted and advised that the alarm had been activated again. At 1340 hours Potsdam Fire responded back to 51 Market Street. This time the alarm was found to be from the same cause but a different detector.

At 1429 hours, Potsdam Fire was contacted by a firefighter to report that the fire alarm had been activated at Lowes. Engine 49 (R. Crowe) responded with a crew. While responding, Central Dispatch advised that a water flow alarm had been activated. Engine 49 arrived on scene at 1434 hours in which it was found a sprinkler had been accidentally activated in the rear of the store by an employee. Potsdam Fire assisted with turning off the water to the sprinkler that activated and to put the sprinkler system for the rest of the store back in service. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1526 hours.

The last call of the day, at 1833 hours Potsdam Fire was dispatched to a reported fuel spill near Martin's Service Station. Potsdam Fire Engine 49 (C. Locy) responded and arrived at 1834 hours. It was found that a vehicle had fueled up at Stewarts and was leaking fuel down the street. The vehicle was moved into Martin's Service Station and firefighters assisted in cleaning up the roadway. Potsdam Fire was back in service at 1853 hours.
