Potsdam Firefighters Jessie Kozak and Brad Andrus were honored by the St. Lawrence County Fire Chief's Association as the Firefighters of the Year. On April 16, 2018, while providing mutual aid at a fire in Morley, Kozak and Andrus, along with several other firefighters from neighboring department, worked together to save the life of fellow firefighter Mark Bomyea of the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department. Bomyea had fallen into a farm cictern full of water and was unable to get out without help of Kozak, Andrus and the other firefighters.

Kozak and Andrus want to thank the St. Lawrence County Chief's Association and our Potsdam Fire Chiefs. Congratulations to the other recipients of this award throughout the county chief's assiciation.
