Mutual Aid to Norwood for Waste Fire

At 0855 hours, Norwood Fire was dispatched to respond to 72 South Main Street in Norwood, for a Casella Waste Truck whose load of waste had caught on fire and was dumped in the parking lot next to the Nice & Easy. At 0933 hours, Potsdam Fire was requested to respond with Engine 80 with it's class A foam. At 0940 hours, Engine 80 (M. Maroney) responded with a full crew to Norwood and arrived on scene at 0947 hours.

Firefighters stretched 200 feet of 1 3/4" hose and used the on board class A foam to suppress the load of waste. Casella brought a track-hoe and dump trailer and picked up the waste that was dumped onto the ground. Potsdam Fire was back in service at 1127 hours.
