September Is Campus Fire Safety Month

The beginning of a new term means classes, homework, friends, and parties. With such hectic lives, students often don't pay attention to one thing that could kill them: accidental fires. As a new semester begins at Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, the Potsdam Fire Department reminds students to take action to protect themselves and their friends from fire.

Round Baler Complete Loss

Fire Driver Robert Crowe, August 28

Potsdam Fire responded to 235 River Road for a reported hay baler on fire, threatening a structure. Engine 80, Operated by Career FF Bob Pierce, was out of service at the alarm time of 1840 hours. Arriving on scene 4 minutes later , members found a Hesston 565A round baler fully engulfed with some extension to the attached tractor. Tanker 100 (FF M.Bradish) and Rescue 14 (FF S.. PFD Responds To Head On Fatality MVA

Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue and County Car 7 were activated at 1424 hours for a reported serious personal injury accident on USH 11 in the vicinity of Steve's RV. Engine 80, operated by FF Brad Andrus, responded at 1428 and arrived on scene at 1432 with Engine 49, Rescue 14 and Rescue 30 close behind. Mutual Aid to Hannawa Falls For Structure Fire

Potsdam Fire was alerted at 0515 hours to respond to 70 Riggs Drive, mutual aid to Hannawa Falls, for a reported structure fire with persons trapped. Engine 80 (S.Corbett), tanker 100 (M. Bradish), and Rescue 14 (J. Keleher) responded along with 14 members. Pickup Truck Loses Gas Tank On Clinton Street

At 1213 hrs Potsdam Fire was dispatched to the vicinity of 20 Clinton street for a gasoline spill. Upon arrival Engine 49, operated by Fire Driver Bob Pierce, found a 2003 Dodge Dakota whose gas tank had fallen off and was laying in the road.
