Mutual Aid for Forest Fire

At 1339 hours, the Potsdam Fire Department was activated for a mutual aid call to Pierrepont fire on the Sturdevant Road in the town of Pierrepont. First arriving units from Pierrepont were reporting a structure fire with extension into brush and woods adjacent to the burning storage building. Personnel were requested to the scene initially with the request for the tanker following shortly thereafter. Rescue 30 and Tanker 100 responded along with numerous PFD personnel along with firefighters from Canton, Colton, Hannawa Falls, and Parishville. The temperature was in the 70's with winds gusting to 40 miles per hour. The fire was prevented from spreading to a nearby residence and after extensive mop up the units were back in service at 1550 hours.
