It was a busy 24 hours for area fire departments. Potsdam was called to respond mutual aid to assist Canton FD, first at a barn fire Wednesday evening at the Sergi farm on the Sykes road with 2 tankers to the scene as well as a standby crew at Canton station. Multiple departments responded for water supply. Thursday morning Potsdam responded again for standby, while Canton volunteers fought a structure fire on the O'Horo road. While in Canton, Engine 48 and R-30 were dispatched to a reported ammonia leak at SLU Appleton ice arena. Under the command of Chief David Mcgregor, the area was secured and the leak valved off. A repair crew arrived to repair the leak,and all personnel were released
