On Thursday July 11th 2019, While Potsdam Firefighters were en route back from assisting West Stockholm Fire with a Motor Vehicle Collision, severe thunderstorms blew through the Potsdam Area. Potsdam Fire responded to several calls of downed power lines and tree limbs with the first call starting at 1733 hours. Potsdam Fire responded to 16 fire calls and the last call was answered at 2144 hours.
16:46 : Auto aid to West Stockholm for motor vehicle collision 1733: 20 Garden Street, report of a large tree limb that fell with line down still has power. 1744: 29 Leroy Street, tree on fire, smoke - unfounded. 1804: 1 Maple Street, wires down. 1807: 29 Grant Street, lines down. 18:11: 600 Sissonville Road, tree on power lines on fire threatening a shed. 18:17: Clarkson University Carpenter Shop, fire alarm. 18:25: Outer Main Street, large tree down on wires blocking road. 18:29: 37 Pine Street, wire down on apartment, resident is unable to get out of residence, found to be a telephone cable. 18:44: Sandstone Drive, debris in roadway. 18:56: Pine Street and Maple Street, live wire in ditch 19:00 : Tree Down intersection of Bay and Pierrepont Ave 19:09: Lower Elderkin Street, tree down, wires hanging. Found to be on Smalley Lane 20:01: 27 Grant Street, Pole Sparking. 20:11: Maple Street, power lines down 21:44: 578 May Road, fire starting in woods, started by power lines. |
