At 11:12 hours the Potsdam Fire Dept. was dispatched to a reported natural gas leak on the Clarkson University campus, near the Admissions Office in Holcroft House. Arriving on scene at 11:15, Engine 49 and responding members determined that the leak was coming from the lawn adjacent to Holcroft, where a tent stake had been driven into a 3" steel gas main. Nearby buildings were evacuated without incident, while personnel from St. Lawrence Gas and Clarkson maintenance shut off gas in the area. 16 members responded to the alarm and all were back in service at 12:32 hours.
