Serious MVA on the May Road

At 1130 hours Potsdam Fire and Potsdam Rescue were dispatched to a reported 1 car accident in the vicinity of 479 May Road. Further information was received that a single male patient was at the scene with serious injuries. While responding, Chief Tim Jerome requested Engine 49 to respond immediately. Engine 49 and Rescue 14 went enroute at 1132 hours and arrived on scene at 1137 hours. Units found a car vs. tree with heavy damage to the passenger side of the vehicle and a single male victim requiring extrication. Engine 49 deployed its extrication tool and members went to work on removing the roof while members of Potsdam Rescue stabilized the patient and provided patient care. Rescue 14 deployed its set of cutters as well as a sawzall to complete the roof removal. Once the roof was removed PVRS members removed the patient and transported him to Canton Potsdam Hospital. All units were back in service at 1235 hours.
