Shortly after returning from a motor vehicle accident, Potsdam Fire Department was toned out to respond to a vehicle fire that was threatening a structure at 521 South Canton Road. Engine 80 and Tanker 100 were out of service immediately.

Upon arrival firefighters found the engine compartment of a 2000 Ford Ranger to be engulfed with fire. The vehicle had been towed away from the structure before the firefighters arrived on scene. Potsdam firefighters worked diligently to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. All units were back in service at 5:27pm.
