During the past few years, the number of volunteer firefighters has decreased significantly. This year the members of the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department will be opening the fire house doors on April 26th and 27th from 9:00am until 1pm in an effort to recruit new members.

Potsdam firefighters will join other departments across St. Lawrence County in a statewide effort to increase volunteer firefighter numbers in New York State. RecruitNY has made its way to St. Lawrence County in an effort to recruit new member in the fire service.

During RecruitNY weekend, Potsdam Fire Department members will conduct tours of their firehouse and fire apparatus. Members will discuss the requirements to be a volunteer, as well as answer questions, and let visitors know how to join their fire department.

Once again the members of the Potsdam Fire Department invite anyone who may be interested in joining the fire department to stop at the firehouse, located at 42 Main Street, Potsdam, on April 26th and 27th, from 9am until 1pm.
