On Saturday May 30, 2015, at 20:49, Potsdam Fire along with Potsdam Rescue, was dispatched to a car into a pole in the vicinity of Lower Pine Street and the River Road. Engine 49 and Rescue 14 responded immediately with a few crew.

Upon arrival firefighters found a utility pole that was sheared off lying in the roadway with power, cable, and telephone lines down. No vehicle or patients were in the area upon arrival. National Grid was notified immediately and traffic was detoured around the area until the utilities could be restored.

Potsdam Police located the 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck that was involved in the accident a short time later at 73 Pine Street. The vehicle was leaking a large amount of anti-freeze and was over heated. Due to the vehicle being so close to a garage and the large amount of front end damage done to the vehicle, Potsdam Police requested Potsdam Fire to respond to their location to cut the battery to the vehicle and contain the anti-freeze leak. Rescue 14 responded to assist the Police Department at this time.
