Good Save by Potsdam Firefighters

On September 30, 2015 at approximately 12:43, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue and Car 7 were toned out to 6757 State Highway 56 for a report of a house fire with possible entrapment. Engine 80 and Tanker 100 were out of service immediately.

While Responding, 1st Assistant Chief Danielle Rose requested Hannawa Falls Fire, Norwood Fire, and West Potsdam Fire to each respond to the scene with Tankers, an Engine and manpower. Past Chief Chris Taylor was first to arrive on scene and established "Potsdam Command". He additionally requested West Stockholm Fire to stand by at Potsdam Station. Command was subsequentl;y turned over to Chief Rose upon her arrival at the scene.

Water supply was established using a porta tank, and the fire was quickly contained by firefighters to the basement area were the landlord had been soldering pipes. The one tenant that was in his apartment when the fire broke out was confirmed to be out of the building prior to the fire departments arrival.

The Red Cross was called to assist with the 7 displaced tenants. The fire remains under investigation.

All units were back in service at 16:18.
