Mariono R. “Mario” Pusateri, 73, Norwood

Funeral services for Mariono R. “Mario” Pusateri, 73, Norwood will be Monday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding.

Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

Pusateri passed away suddenly early Thursday morning.

Mario is survived by his wife, Linda, Norwood; a son, Joseph Charles and Gita “Rusty” Pusateri, Killeen, Tx.; a daughter, Christine Stevenson and her companion Vernon Smithers, Ogdensburg; a step-daughter, Nicole Jackson, Canton; his step-father, Clifford Hanson; his mother and father in-law, Lloyd and Lillian Barrigar, Canton; his eight grandchildren, Rachael and Frank Barr, Brenden Stevenson, Svenja Smith, Jessica Wood, Justin Pusateri, Travis Pusateri, Jamie Pusateri and Eric Pusateri; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Caryl and Rod Larva, Reno, Nevada.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Jan. 14, 1942 to the late Joseph Charles and Mary E. Ross Pusateri, Mario married Linda M. Barrigar Dec. 10, 1988.

Mario worked for Community Bank as a claims adjuster for 18 years and previously worked as a salesman for various business, including WYBG and Montgomery Wards.

Previously while living in California, Mario installed pools and worked at the Gardenia Cheese Company.

Mario was a member of the Potsdam Fire Department as well as the Massena and Norwood Kiwanis Clubs. He also served on the Potsdam Zoning Board and was very involved with USA Hockey.

He enjoyed helping people learn, cooking, spending time with his family and friends and going hunting and fishing.

He was involved with many sporting events. He was a Potsdam Pee-Wee Football and Hockey referee and also a trainer for hockey referees.

Mario was an avid Clarkson Golden Knight fan and “Goal Judge” and also loved the companionship of his dog “Buddy.”

Mario served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965.
