On January 4, 2016, at approximately 8:43pm, Parishville Fire 33-1 (E. Cool) requested Potsdam Fire to respond to 1783 State Highway 72 for a report of a chimney fire. Parishville had been on scene for some time and could not safely make it to the chimney they needed to get to due to the extensive amount of snow and ice on the roof. 33-1 requested Potsdam Fire to respond Tower 5 and manpower.

Tower 5 along with Rescue 14 responded immediately. There were two different chimneys which were hooked up to two different wood boilers which heated the whole house. Both were plugged with creosote.

The fire was contained to the chimney with minimal damage.
