Mutual Aid to West Potsdam for a Barn Fire

On January 5, 2016, at approximately 6:41pm, West Potsdam was dispatched to report of a barn fire at 2051 County Route 35. 47-1 (R. Forbes) requested Potsdam to respond with a tanker and manpower. Engine 80, TA-100, and Rescue 14 were out of service immediately.

Upon arrival units found what appeared to be the milk house of the barn to be on fire. Crews were able to cut the fire off at the milk house and save the rest of the barn. The barn is reported to be owned by an Amish family.

One person did sustain burns to the face and hands. The victim was reported to be working on equipment in the barn when the fire broke out. potsdam Rescue transported the victim to rendevous with the LifeNet helicopter in Canton at the County Jail.

The fire is still under investigation by the St. Lawrence County Investigation Team.
