St. Lawrence County has declared a Local State of Emergency and enacted a burn ban for the next two weeks.

"As of Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 6:00 PM, no person shall intentionally set an open fire throughout St. Lawrence County , with the exception of a cam fire at a designated state, federal, or Department of Environmental Conservation licensed campground where the camp fires are in fire rings that confine and contain the camp fire. This order supersedes all burning permits and will extend through Tuesday, June 14 PM 2016 at 6:00 PM, unless rescinded or extended. An exception has been granted to fire departments involved in organized training with immediately available charged handlines."

Residents are urged not to burn. Violation of the burn ban with result in the offender being ticketed.
