Potsdam Firefighters started their day out at 6:10am on March 28, 2017 by responding to 34 ½ Market Street for an alarm activation. The cause of the alarm was found, the building was cleared of smoke, and the alarm was reset.

Shortly after being back in service from the alarm activation, St. Lawrence County Central Dispatch activated Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue and Car 7 to a report of a tractor trailer fire located at 208 Sissonville Road, J.E. Sheehan Contracting Corp. The initial report stated that the truck was not attached to a trailer.

Engine 80 and Tanker 100 responded immediately.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the engine compartment and cab of the truck was fully involved with flames. Firefighters quickly began fire suppression and were able to have the fire under control within a matter of minutes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
