Round Baler Complete Loss

Potsdam Fire responded to 235 River Road for a reported hay baler on fire, threatening a structure. Engine 80, Operated by Career FF Bob Pierce, was out of service at the alarm time of 1840 hours. Arriving on scene 4 minutes later , members found a Hesston 565A round baler fully engulfed with some extension to the attached tractor. Tanker 100 (FF M.Bradish) and Rescue 14 (FF S.. Corbett) arrived shortly thereafter. The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished, minimizing the damage to the attached International Harvester tractor and preventing any further spread of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Twenty four members responded and all units were back in service at 2002 hours.
