Mutual Aid to Colton House Fire

The tones dropped at 1246 hours for a mutual aid call to 23 Riverside Drive in Colton for a reported house fire. Colton 5-1, Chief Aaron Johnson had requested Tower 5, an engine and personnel to respond. All units were enroute at 1252 hours. Arriving on scene at 1307 hours, Tower 5 was directed to the front of the house to set up while Engine 48 reverse laid 5" LDH to a nearby hydrant. Crews commenced an aggressive interior attack on a fire that had gained significant headway in the building. A crew went to the roof and performed vertical ventilation on the multi-layered roof. The fire was knocked down and extensive overhaul operations were undertaken. The fire was declared under control and Potsdam units were released to return to the Village. All units were back in service at 1609 hours. Eleven PFD members responded to the mid-day incident. The occupant of the house were being assisted by the American Red Cross and the fire is under investigation by members of the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team.
