Potsdam Fire Responds Mutual Aid to Norfolk for a Structure Fire

On April 30, 2018, at approximately 10:59AM, Potsdam Fire was requested for tankers to the scene of a working structure fire at 9398 State Highway 56, in the town of Norfolk. It was reported as the address of the Woodchop Shop store.

Tanker 100 and Engine 80 responded.Upon arrival, Tanker 100 and Engine 80 both deployed their port-a-tanks. Engine 80 was used as a second engine to pump the fire instead of being used as tanker. All hand-lines were deployed off Engine 80 to help extinguish the fire. Engine 80 also supplied a big line to Massena’s Tower 3.

A total of 11 tankers, two engines, one tower, along with numerous personnel from surrounding departments were used in the firefighting effort.

The fire is still under investigation by the St. Lawrence County Cause & Origin Team and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control . No injuries were reported.
