On September 18th 2019, Potsdam Fire was requested to respond to SUNY Potsdam for a Mock Dorm burn. The room was built by SUNY Potsdam and furnished as a typical dorm room. Students were given fire safety tips and presentation by Past Chief and State Fire Christopher Taylor. The mock dorm was then lit where the fire quickly spread, activating the smoke detector and quickly reaching high heat at ceiling level. Within minutes, the room had reached flash over stage, at which point, firefighters moved in and extinguished the flames.
