Small Fire Discovered at Alarm Activation, Clarkson University

On Friday, October 25, 2019 at 12:26 AM, the Potsdam Fire Department received an automatic dialer for a fire alarm activation at Clarkson University Townhouse Apartments. Engine 49, staffed with Fire Driver Robar, and Firefighter Leigh-Manuel responded immediately and arrived at 12:30 AM. Upon arrival, a light smoke condition was found in a mechanical room, upon entry firefighters located an electric motor on fire and quickly extinguished the blaze with a fire extinguisher. Firefighters used an exhaust fan to remove the remaining smoke from the room and the scene was turned over to Clarkson University Officials. Potsdam Fire was assisted on scene by Clarkson Security, and Potsdam Village Police. Potsdam Fire units were back in service at 1:11 AM
