Two Car Motor Vehicle Accident with Extrication on South Canton Road

On Friday, December 20th 2019, at 1546 hours, Potsdam Fire and Potsdam Rescue were dispatched to the vicinity of 500 South Canton Road for a reported two car motor vehicle accident. Further information revealed the accident was serious with entrapment. At 1549 hours, Engine 80 (J. Keleher) responded, followed shortly by Rescue 14 (S. Corbett) responded and arrived on scene at 1558 hours.

On scene, firefighters assisted with extrication and providing patient care. Fire personnel were requested to provided traffic control. Rescue 30 (B. Corbett) responded to the intersection of South Canton Road and Dayton Road and directed traffic around the scene. 36-2 (M. Bradish) provided traffic control at the intersection of South Canton Road and County Route 59.

One patient was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Potsdam Rescue with chest and hip injuries. The other patient was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Parishville Rescue with minor injuries. The scene was investigated by New York State Police. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1730 hours.
