Natural Gas Leak on Leroy Street

On Wednesday, August 5th 2020, at 0528 hours, Potsdam Fire was dispatched to respond to 7 Leroy Street for a natural gas leak. Central Dispatch reported that a car had backed into a gas meter and that gas is leaking out. At 0530 hours, Engine 49 (J. Robar) responded and arrived on scene at 0532 hours.

On scene, firefighters located a residential natural gas meter that was broke off above the shut off valve. Firefighters were able to shut the valve, thus eliminating the hazard. Firefighters remained on scene until Liberty Utilities arrived. The scene was turned over and Potsdam Fire was in service at 0611 hours.
