On Wednesday, September 15th 2021, Potsdam Fire and Brasher-Winthrop Fire joined West Stockholm Fire for a multi-company training drill simulating a fire at the United Methodist Church in West Stockholm. Firefighters from all 3 departments trained on hose relays by running 1,100 feet of 5-inch Large Diameter Hose from a draft site on the Hatch Road to the church. Potsdam Engine 48 served as the draft engine supplying Potsdam Engine 80 via the LDH. The relay supplied Potsdam Tower 5 and its elevated master stream. Crews also trained on tanker shuttle operations, establishing a second water supply at Rutley's Pond and moving water to the church with several tankers. The tanker shuttle operation was used to feed a ground monitor from West Stockholm Engine 88. District Deputy Fire Coordinator Bob Pierce (County Car 10) was on scene to assist and support West Stockholm in the execution of the district drill. Standby coverage was provided by Norwood Fire at West Stockholm Station and Hannawa Falls Fire at Potsdam Station. Canton Fire provided a crew to assist with traffic control. Following the drill, members were provided with a tour of the United Methodist Church to aid in pre-planning.
