Refrigerant Leak at Aldi

On Tuesday, April 5th 2022, at 2028 hours, Potsdam Fire was dispatched to Aldi at 7495 US Highway 11 for a fire alarm activation. Shortly after time of alarm, 36-1 (T. Jerome) responded with Engine 80 (B. Andrus) following at 2036. Chief Jerome advised responding units that there was a refrigerant leak inside of the store. An additional alarm was then put out for interior personnel to the scene. On scene, firefighters used SCBA to investigate and find the source of the leak. Firefighters used exhaust fans to clear refrigerant and odor from the store. Employees that were present in the store were not injured. A refrigerant company responded to the scene and the scene was turned back over to store personnel. Potsdam Fire was in service at 2144 hours.
