On Thursday, April 21st 2022 at 1357 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, County Car 10 were dispatched to across from 14 Depot Street for a reported front porch of a house on fire. At 1358 hours, Engine 49 responded chauffeured by Paid Driver Robar who was advised by Central Dispatch that people were possibly still inside of the house. At 1359 hours, Engine 49 arrived on scene with a working structure fire, and with the help of Potsdam DPW established a water supply at a hydrant about 200 ft away. At that time, a request was made for West Stockholm Fire and West Potsdam Fire to respond with manpower to the scene. Firefighters stretched an 1 3/4 inch hose line off of Engine 49 and began a transitional fire attack. A 2 1/2 inch hose line was stretched for exposure protection. Potsdam Fire 36-2 (M. Bradish) assumed command of the fire. Norwood Fire was requested to be on standby at their station for Potsdam Fire.

Shortly after, Engine 48 (M. Maroney) and Tower 5 (J. Keleher) responded to Constitution Street. Engine 48 laid 5" large diameter hose from a fire hydrant up the street to where Tower 5 was positioned. Tower 5 and firefighters began roof operations where the structure was vented and then the roof was overhauled and peeled back. Firefighters from Potsdam, West Potsdam, and West Stockholm performed extensive overhaul operations inside of the structure and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Red Cross was contacted for 1 adult male and 1 adult female and one cat. Potsdam Rescue was on scene for standby and rehab operations. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1741 hours.
