On Tuesday, July 19th 2022, at 2337 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to 1907 Morley Potsdam Road for a reported structure fire, with the caller reporting a smell of smoke in ceiling, possibly electrical. At 2341 hours, 36-4 (J. Farnsworth) responded along with Engine 80 (S. Corbett) followed shortly by Tanker 100 (B. Andrus) and Rescue 14 (Ju. McGregor). At 2344 hours, Engine 80 and 36-4 arrived on scene with nothing showing from the front of the structure. Upon arrival, a smoky haze was found throughout the house. Firefighters found an active fire in the attic of the house. At 2351 hours, 36-9 requested West Potsdam Fire with manpower to the scene. 36-3 (Dan McGregor) then arrived on scene and assumed command of the incident.

On scene, firefighters used a K12 entry saw to gain entry into the attic and then used a thermal imaging camera to locate the fire. Firefighters made entry into the attic from the kitchen with sheetrock hooks and pulled the insulation out of the attic that was on fire and extinguished the fire with a wet can extinguisher. Salvage and overhaul was performed and there was no water damage to the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Potsdam Rescue provided fire standby on scene. Potsdam Fire was in service at 0141 hours.
