Two Motor Vehicle Accidents on Friday Afternoon

On Friday, September 23rd, 2022, Potsdam Fire responded to two motor vehicle accidents within a short period of time.

At 1608 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched at 1608 hours, to the intersection of Market Street and Elm Street for a two car motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment, no reported injuries. Engine 49 Chauffeured by Paid Driver Mark Maroney responded at 1609 hours, while responding Potsdam Police advised that fire would only be needed for traffic control. Engine 49 arrived on scene at 1610 hours, followed shortly by Rescue 30 (M. Kroeger). Firefighters on scene quickly provided traffic control while others assisted in pushing the vehicle out of the intersection and to the side of the roadway. Once the vehicle was pushed to roadside, Potsdam Fire cleared the scene and was in service at 1619 hours.

As firefighters were returning from a Mock Dorm Burn at SUNY Potsdam, Potsdam Fire was activated again at 1633 hours, for a personal injury, car vs pedestrian accident in the Big Lots Plaza. Engine 49 Chauffeured by Paid Driver Matt Kroeger responded with a full engine crew to the scene and arrived on scene at 1637 hours. When arriving on scene, firefighters assisted with patient care and assisted Potsdam Rescue with loading the patient. The patient was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1702 hours.
