By Fire Driver Robert Crowe
November 14, 2022

Members had a busy evening, responding to back to back accidents in the Village. At 1722, Potsdam Fire was dispatched to a 2 vehicle motor vehicle accident (MVA) with air bag deployment in the vicinity of 6603 SH 56. Engine 49 (Fire Driver Crowe) responded immediately and arrived on scene 3 minutes later. Assistant Chief Bradish established command and directed members to check on the victims as well as establish traffic control at the scene. Potsdam Rescue arrived and evaluated all the victims of the accident with none needing transport to the hospital. Potsdam Police responded to the scene originally and turn the accident over to the SLC Sheriff's Office as the incident occurred just outside the village limits. Potsdam Fire was released from the scene and was back in service at 1750.

Four minutes later the tones dropped again for another 2 car MVA and the intersection of Elm and Cedar Streets. Engine 49 responded and was on scene in under 2 minutes. Upon arrival, members established traffic control to provide a safe work area. Several patients were evaluated by Potsdam Rescue with two transported to CPH for additional evaluation and care. Members remained on scene to clear the roadway of debris and control traffic while the vehicles were removed by Johnson Towing. Members were back inservice from the second MVA at 1839. A total of 17 members responded to both accidents.

Mutual Aid: Potsdam Rescue, Potsdam Police, Johnson Towing
