On Friday, October 13th 2023, Potsdam Fire joined West Stockholm Fire and Hannawa Falls Fire at the Lawrence Avenue Elementary School for fire prevention day. Firefighters presented to Pre-K through 3rd grade. Children were taught by Chief Torey Russell (WSFD), Chief Justin McGrath (WSFD), Chief Kevin Jones (HFFD), Chief Neil Conant, Firefighter Jesse Kozak, and Captain Brad Andrus. The children were shown the importance of smoke detectors and became accustomed to seeing firefighters in their turnout gear and air packs. The children were also shown a fun music video teaching them about calling 911.

Children then were brought outside where Tower 5 from Potsdam Fire and Marine 2 from Hannawa Falls Fire were in the parking lot for the students to see and explore. Children were able to get inside the apparatus and photos were taken. The fire prevention day was a success by all who participated. Potsdam Fire, West Stockholm Fire, and Hannawa Falls Fire would like to thank the Lawrence Avenue Elementary School for their invite for fire prevention.
