On Tuesday evening, the door bell rang at the fire station and 6th grader Avery Cook, her father Dan, and brother were at the door for a nice surprise for the fire department. Mr. Cook explained that his daughter receives chore money every week and that she has put aside one dollar from each week. Avery then each year donates money to a local organization, and this year she decided to donate her money to the Potsdam Fire Department.

Avery and her father were able to come back to the Potsdam Fire Department Thursday morning at 11 where Avery was interviewed by 7 News for her gesture. Potsdam Fire Assistant Chief Jason Farnsworth and Chief Tim Jerome presented Avery with two department t-shirts and thanked Avery for her donation.

Any donation, can help the fire department by using the money to purchase new equipment, new turnout gear, or needs of the fire department. Thank you Avery!
