Firefighters Contain Pierrepont Avenue Structure Fire

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1313 hours, the Potsdam Fire Department, Potsdam Rescue, and St. Lawrence County Car 10 were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 36 Pierrepont Avenue.

Engine 49, chauffeured by Career Driver Grant, was enroute at the time of dispatch and arrived on scene within approximately two minutes. Upon arrival, crews confirmed a working structure fire with smoke showing and immediately initiated fire attack, deploying a 1¾-inch hoseline.

Potsdam Fire Chief M. Bradish arrived shortly thereafter, established command, and requested mutual aid from the Hannawa Falls and West Stockholm Fire Departments.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes, after which firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment and minimize property damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Village of Potsdam Police Department in cooperation with the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team.

Assisting on scene were Potsdam Rescue, Parishville Rescue, Potsdam Police Department, SUNY Potsdam University Police, Hannawa Falls Fire Department, West Stockholm Fire Department, and the Village of Potsdam Department of Public Works. Also responding were the St. Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services District 3 Deputy Fire Coordinator R.Pierce (Car 10) and Fire Investigation Team units 32, 36, and 39.

The Potsdam Fire Department responded with four apparatus and 17 personnel. All units were returned to service at 1558 hours.
