Structure Fire in Brasher

At 5:34pm a passerby notified dispatch of a house fire on County Route 49. Brasher Winthrop Fire, Tri-Town Rescue, and County Car 13 were dispatched to the reported fire at 2705 County Route 49. Initial reports claimed possible entrapment but were later updated that everyone was out. Upon arrival, the fire had spread to the field and woods nearby. West Stockholm Fire, Norfolk Fire, Norwood Fire, Lawrenceville Fire, National Grid, and the Massena Salvation Army EDS team were requested to the scene with Engines, Tankers, Manpower, and UTVs. Potsdam Fire was requested for standby at West Stockholm Fire Station and some members were later requested to the scene to assist.

While on scene, at 6:10pm, Potsdam Fire was dispatched to a fire alarm at SUNY Potsdam in the townhouses. The cause was a mechanical malfunction.

At 8:37pm Potsdam Fire was dispatched to an outside fire on Elderkin Street in the village. The fire was quickly extinguished and the Village of Potsdam PD issued a citation.

Potsdam Fire was back in service from standby and all calls at 9:19pm.
