Structure Fire – 1 Maple St. (Evans & White Ace Hardware) |

| At 6:04 a.m., the Potsdam Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 1 Maple St., Evans & White Ace Hardware. Career Chauffeur B. McCluskey responded with Engine 48 and advised dispatch of smoke showing upon arrival. Interior crews quickly initiated fire attack and conducted a search of the building. As suppression efforts continued, Incident Command requested a large mutual aid response to assist with firefighting operations. Although the exterior of the building remains mostly intact, the fire caused significant damage to the interior. Three ladder trucks operated on scene, including Potsdam Tower 5, Massena Tower 3, and Brasher Tower 12. Crews performed extensive overhaul operations and completed a thorough check for fire extension throughout the structure. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries or fatalities associated with this incident. The Potsdam Fire Department and the community greatly appreciate your assistance. The Potsdam Fire Department returned to service at 3:51 p.m. (1551 hours). |
