| The regular monthly training drill of the Potsdam Fire Department was held at Damon Field, Potsdam International Airport, near the helipad. The topic of the evening was Foam and Handline Operation. Firefighters were instructed on selecting the correct foam type, proper deployment of the foam handline, and foam application techniques.
Potsdam firefighters had an opportunity to use the Task Force Tip handline to generate foam and also utilize the Task Force Tip with the MX FoamJet attachment. All the firefighters agreed, the use of the MX FoamJet attachment greatly enhanced the quality of the foam blanket.
A great discussion was held regarding nozzles, pump pressures, and proportioning rates. Nothing beats a hands-on experience. Thanks to all who took the time to attend and enhance their knowledge.
Firefighters also had an opportunity to try out the new Akron SabreJet nozzle. The SabreJet is a combination fog/straight stream nozzle. This drill proved very useful in evaluating this new piece of equipment.
