4 Vehicle MVA on Market Street

At 1118 hours the Potsdam Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Market Street between Cottage and Larnard Streets. Initial reports were that the accident was property damage only however Engine 48, operated by Fire Driver Robert Crowe, arrived on scene at 1120 hours to find one patient in need of transport and others needing evaluation and Potsdam Rescue was requested to the scene. EMS providers from the fire department along wth one EMT-B from Potsdam Rescue provded BLS care and performed a standing takedown on the victim. Other victims of the accident were monitored by fire department EMS personnel awaiting the arrival of the Rescue Squad. The patient was packaged and transferred to the rescue squad when they arrived on scene at 1134 hours. Traffic was diverted by fire department personnel to ensure responder safety at the scene. One patient was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital. All apparatus and the 15 responding members were back in service at 1154 hours.
