Engine 48 is back home and running calls again after being gone for 4 weeks for repairs.
The repair work was done at Jerome Fire Equipment in Clay NY. The old steel tank was replaced with a new poly tank. When E-48 replaces E-111 later this year it will need to carry a porta-tank. The tank was modified and a provision was made to hold a porta-tank. Two compartments were upgraded with adjustable shelf's to allow for the compartments to be better organized. The warning lights were upgraded to a combination Halogen light bar and LEDs for increased safety and to reduce draw on alternator. The old sealed beam light bar was replaced a CODE 3 MX-7000 light bar with 6 rotators, side intersection lights were added to the front of the cab and behind the rear tires. An additional set of front warning lights were added and the yellow flashers to the rear were replaced. The control cable for the cab heater was replaced and a few other minor repairs were done. The truck looks good and everyone was impressed with the quality of the work.
Friday around 2:30pm Chief McGregor received a call form Doug "Smokey" Horton that the repairs were completed. Fire Drivers Pierce and Crowe left for Clay to pick up the truck and arrived back in Potsdam around 10:30pm. After fueling up they were met at the station by Chief McGregor and a crew eager to get the truck back in service. Chief McGregor, firefighters Kyle Berry, Steve Petit, Danielle Rose, Jerrid Lavoie, Conor Corbett, Buddy Robar, Nick Wildey, Hal James along with Fire drivers Lozipone, Crowe and Pierce worked to get the equipment reloaded. Engine 48 was placed back in service at 12:30am. Thanks to all the members who helped load the equipment. |
