| On Tuesday May 27th, 2008 the Potsdam Fire Department accepted delivery of a New 2008 Rosenbauer Pumper. The new Engine is a rescue style pumper with a rear mounted pump. This design was chosen as it moves the fire pump behind the rear axle allowing for deeper compartments and more storage space. This is the first pumper of this design in St. Lawrence County. Engine 49 will be the first out Village pumper replacing Engine 48 which will now respond second due to Village calls.
The pumper was delivered to Potsdam by Wilde Fire Equipment Sales of Mayfield, NY. The new pumper was driven into the Village by Chief McGregor, and was led by the old Seagrave pumper (Retired Eng 49) with a handful of firefighters aboard. After the truck was inspected for final delivery and a few test drives were taken, it was off to the river for some pump testing / operator training. After training it was back to the firehouse to load hose and transfer equipment to the new truck. Engine 49 was officially placed into service with Central Dispatch on Wednesday afternoon. Engine 49 answered it's first alarm on Thursday for a alarm activation at the UPS facility, Hatch Road.
