MVA - Route 56

To cap off a busy day, at approximately 1527 hours Potsdam Firefighters along with Potsdam Rescue Squad were alerted by St. Lawrence County 911 Center for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident in front of 6738 State Highway 56 in the Town of Potsdam. Upon arrival Potsdam Firefighters encountered a PT Cruiser that had left the roadway striking a sign in front of the NCC Systems, Inc. building. The vehicle had struck the curbing as it left the roadway causing a minor oil leak. The vehicle came to rest between the signposts on two large rocks. The single male occupant was evaluated by EMT's from Potsdam Rescue Squad and was found to be uninjured. The accident was investigated by the New York State Police with assistance from the Potsdam Police Department. The vehicle operator was taken into custody by a New York State Trooper and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Martin's AAA Towing Service.
