By Fire Driver Mark Maroney
October 26, 2020

On Monday, October 26th 2020 at 1758 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to a report of a possible vehicle fire at the intersection of Elm Street and Union Street. At 1758 hours, Engine 49 chauffeured by Paid Driver Maroney responded and arrived at 1800 hours to find a vehicle on Union Street with light white smoke coming from the front of the vehicle with a small engine compartment fire. Engine 49 drove past the vehicle, turned around, and positioned downwind from the fire. Firefighters stretched the 100 foot trash line off the front bumper of Engine 49 and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was then pushed by firefighters from Union Street into the parking lot of the United Methodist Church where a tow was responding to pick the vehicle up. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Potsdam Rescue provided a rescue standby and Potsdam Police assisted on scene with traffic control. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1918 hours.

Units: Engine 49 (M. Maroney)
