Busy Start to Month for Potsdam Fire

On Tuesday, February 1st, Potsdam Fire ran 5 fire calls to start the month. At 1207 hours, Potsdam Station took a landline for a carbon monoxide detector going off at 50 Waverly Street. Engine 49 (J. Robar) responded at 1207 hours and arrived on scene at 1211 hours. Firefighters used a multi gas meter where no reading of carbon monoxide was found. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1228 hours.

At 1332 hours, West Stockholm Fire, West Stockholm First Responders, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to the intersection of the Stockholm Knapp Station Road and Pleasant Valley Road for a reported car vs deer, car went off the road into trees with air bag deployment, subjects need to evaluated. At 1338 hours, Engine 80 (J. Keleher) responded and arrived on scene at 1347 hours. The subjects were evaluated by Potsdam Rescue and not injured. Engine 80 and West Stockholm Fire conducted traffic control for the motor vehicle accident. At 1405 hours, Potsdam Fire was in service.

At 1521 hours, Parishville Fire, Parishville Rescue, and County Car 36 were dispatched to 49 Chapel Hill Road for a reported garage fire. At 1525 hours, 33-1 Dude Cool, requested Potsdam Fire and Colton Fire with tankers and manpower to the scene. 33-2 responded for Parishville and confirmed a working fire. At 1528 hours, Tanker 100 (J. Keleher) responded and arrived on scene at 1538 hours. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Potsdam Fire provided manpower and worked alongside firefighters from Parishville Fire with salvage and overhaul of the garage. At 1631 hours, Potsdam Fire was in service.

At 1638 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to 6963 State Highway 56 for a reported two car motor vehicle accident with reported injuries. At 1639 hours, Engine 80 (J. Keleher) responded followed by Rescue 30 and Rescue 14 and arrived on scene at 1644 hours. Firefighters provided traffic control at the scene. One patient was injured and transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Potsdam Rescue. Skippy's Towing removed the vehicles from the scene.

While firefighters were on scene of the motor vehicle accident, Engine 49 (J. Robar) responded to SUNY Potsdam Bowman Hall East for a reported fire alarm. Cause of the alarm was maintenance changing a sprinkler head. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1820 hours.
