April 30, 2022

On Saturday, April 30th 2022, at 1814 hours, Hannawa Falls Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to a residence across from Jakes On The Water at 5741 State Highway 56 for a reported structure fire. Hannawa Falls 13-1 requested Potsdam Fire to standby at their station. Hannawa Falls Fire arrived on scene with smoke showing and upgraded Potsdam Fire to respond with manpower to the scene and an engine to the bridge in Hannawa Falls for draft. At 1825 hours, Potsdam Engine 48 (S. Corbett) and Rescue 14 (J. Keleher) responded followed by Rescue 30 (C. Corbett) and arrived on scene at 1832 hours. Engine 48 was able to establish draft across from Hannawa Falls fire station.
Firefighters from Potsdam assisted Hannawa Falls with gaining access to the building roof and in extinguishing the chimney fire that had extended. Firefighters opened up the roof to prevent the fire from spreading. Potsdam Fire was joined on scene by Pierrepont Fire, Colton Fire and Rescue, and Hannawa Falls Fire. The St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team was requested to respond to perform the fire investigation. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1949 hours.

Units: Engine 48 (S. Corbett), Rescue 14 (J. Keleher), Rescue 30 (C. Corbett)
