September 8, 2024

On Sunday, September 8th, 2024 at 1729 hours, West Stockholm Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 8739 US Highway 11. 48-1 Torey Russell responded and arrived on scene to find a two story multi occupancy residence with a working fire. 48-1 requested Potsdam Fire with tankers, manpower, and the tower, along with Brasher Winthrop Fire with tankers and manpower to the scene. Norwood Fire was requested to set up draft at Rutley's Pond. At 1738 hours, Tower 5 (M. Maroney) responded followed by Rescue 14 (M. Keleher) and Tanker 100 (J. Keleher). 36-4 then requested Potsdam Fire to be re-toned for an engine to feed the tower.

On scene, firefighters from West Stockholm had a quick knockdown of the fire that was mostly in the garage and rear of the structure. Tower 5 arrived on scene at 1743 hours. Tower 5 was not used on scene for the ladder but equipment and the generator was used off of the truck for overhaul purposes. Tanker 100 joined the tanker shuttle but did not dump any water. Firefighters from Potsdam joined West Stockholm Fire and Brasher-Winthrop Fire on scene with extinguishing the fire and overhaul. Exhaust vans were used to ventilate the structure. The cause of the fire was investigated by the St. Lawrence County Investigation Team. Potsdam Rescue provided scene standby and no firefighters were reported injured. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1929 hours.

Units: Tower 5 (M. Maroney), Rescue 14 (M. Keleher), Tanker 100 (J. Keleher), Engine 48 (J. Mason)
