The Potsdam Fire Department was dispatched on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 2:03 PM to a reported structure fire on the Pleasant Valley Road in the town of Potsdam. Engine 80 responded at 2:06PM and arrived 4 minutes later to find a working fire. Firefighters stretched an initial 1 3/4" handline and began knocking down the bulk of the fire. As additional manpower arrived, a 2nd 1 3/4" handline as well as a 2 1/2" handline were deployed. Additional manpower and tankers were called from Norwood, West Stockholm, and Norfolk with West Potsdam setting up to fill tankers at a fill site. Potsdam Rescue provided standby and rehab services. St. Lawrence County Fire investigation team was contacted for cause and origin, No injuries reported, and the Potsdam Fire Department was back in service at 6:33 PM.
